We, as Jeff’s family, want to sincerely thank each and every person from Jeff’s life who has flooded us with cards, emails, telephone calls, and words of comfort. We thank his friends, his co-workers, his professional colleagues, his aquatics buddies, his AA brothers, his spiritual group, Revs. Joe Woodson and Steve Poos-Benson and all those at Columbine United Church who have helped us with our grief, and all of our friends and neighbors who have shared their feelings about Jeff with us. As we get ready to bid Jeff good bye, we ask that each and every one of you who knew and loved Jeff remember him, not for the terrible disease that ravaged his life, but for his kindness, his generosity, his sparkle, his smile, and his love of fun. We have been awed by the number of lives he touched and the quality of his impact on those lives. If in the coming days and weeks, you should think of a story or an anticdote involving Jeff that made you laugh, or made you feel good, or helped you through a bad time, or made any kind of an impact on you, we would ask that you share it with us at this site.

Again, we thank you for your love and support,

The Hartenbach/Maxey Family

You have something of mine
-It is with you today
-You may be unaware that you have it
-It is with you just the same

You have something of mine
-Its sight escapes us
-A fortunate glimpse is provided to me
-But only seen in you

You have something of mine
-Its touch, its feel is indescribable
-I can not touch it, but you can, and often do
-You can not feel it, but I can, and often do

You have something of mine
-You perceive its sound to be absent
-As I recognize that it is you that sets its rhythmic beat in motion

You have something of mine
-It is not yours to return
-You had as much control in receiving it as I did in giving it

-I ask that you carry it for me now…and forever.

You are my family…you are my friends.

I love you all

Jeff.
