We were blessed to meet Jeff when we were living next door to Sharon and Dave. We enjoyed his company – a really great guy. We remember him playing with his dog, laughing, and having fun. He will be missed by many. May he find peace in heaven.

I will miss your quick witt and humor.

I will miss the friend who would always show compassion for others and try to ease their pain.

I will miss you my brother, but I will always have fond memories of you and our friendship.

Jeff,

I want to say how glad I was to know you and your mom, brothers, and aunt Lisa. You were, indeed, a wonderful man with a very charismatic manner about you. You are now free of the terrible disease you had and I rejoice for that. May you rest in peace.

I have great memories of Jeff growing up and going to Elementary, Jr. High and High school together. Always a kind hearted caring individual, so gifted and talented. He was in the lead roll of “Oklahoma” in high school. “Everything’s up to date in Kansas City……..” He nailed it! I’m sad to say that I hadn’t kept in touch with him, the last time we talked was our 10 yr. reunion.

Looking at the pictures, I can see he had a fulfilling life and invested his time well in friends and his family. Gone too young and too soon. This is a harsh reminder just how fast time flies, and the importance of friendships and relationships. Thoughts and prayers go out to those who heart’s are aching in loss.

Jam 4:14 Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

I hope and pray you have now found the peace you have been so desperately searching for. I’m so blessed to have shared a significant part of your life and I am a better person for knowing you. I miss you and will always love you.

I first met Jeff when he was Eight (8) years old, His Father came to my house with his two brothers to register for youth football within the Columbine Sports Association of which at that time I was the Director of Football. The Family had just moved from California. I then watched Jeff also played Baseball. If I remember correctly he play for my Son George Jr when Jeff was 9 and 10. My next encounter with Jeff was when he was 15/16 when he played High School Baseball. I drafted him to my Summer Freshman/Sophomore team. He played for me for two years, He was a lot of fun to be around. Never a dull moment with him around. I have been around Jeff on and off in his Professional Career ever since then. Jeff was one of the most respected Aquatic Specialist in the State. I AM GOING TO MISS THE TURKEY!!! (My expression of Endearment for all the Kids that Played Sports for me) Jeff always had a smile on his face and loved people!

I met Jeff in 3rd grade when we moved to Columbine and Jeff lived right across the street. We were classic grade school friends – calling each other, hanging out every day, constantly at each other’s house, etc., etc. They are some of the best childhood memories I have. After we both moved from the neighborhood we were in and out of contact over the years until meeting up again at CSU where we had overlapping circles of friends. It was great to be with him again and renew our friendship.

Here are a few of my favorite memories:

When the song Band on the Run came out in the early 70′s it was Jeff’s favorite song. He insisted that anytime I was home and heard it on the radio that I call him so he could hear it.

The first time I kissed a girl was around 4th grade – our classmate Jill in her garage – on the cheek. She lived two doors up from Jeff and he was right behind me in the garage, coaching me through it and not letting me chicken out.

When Jeff’s family moved to Hawaii we started sending cassette tapes of our voice recordings back and forth to each other. I’ve always wished I still had one of those tapes.

Jeff was a groomsman in my wedding right out of college. I remember he helped me clean up the spilled champagne we snuck into the basement of the church before the wedding with some choir robes we found in the closet. It wasn’t our proudest moment, but it sure was good to have Jeff there.

I’ll miss Jeff deeply – he was a such a good friend – he was a foundational friend who weaved through my entire life.

Sincerely,

Jon Pointer
